EHCS would like to congratulate football senior, Eric Baxter, on being names to the Tennessee Football Coaches Association (TFCA) and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) first team all state. We were able to catch up with Eric yesterday at the school to congratulate him and to get his thoughts on the honors as well as his experiences playing football for the Eagles:
EHCS: How does it feel to be selected to the All State team from both the TFCA and TSPA for 2017?
EB: It feels good to know that my hard work didn’t go unnoticed. I put in the work this summer with Coach Riley and the guys at Elite 3. I went to the gym daily to stay in shape and keep my body right for the season. I appreciate the coaching and mentoring I received from Coach Campbell, Owens, Simms, and Thompson throughout the season. I’m honored to receive these awards and it’s all thanks to the coaches, teammates, and friends I’ve made throughout the years and the experiences I’ve had on and off the field as a player.
EHCS: Now that you have completed your football playing time at EHCS, what are some of your favorite memories?
EB: Probably scoring a touchdown on my senior night(Thanks Reed), and at a close second finding out i got 100 tackles after the last game of the season. Those two top my list of memories.
What are your future plans after you graduate in the spring?
EB: I’ve verbally committed to play college football at Lindsey-Wilson, and I plan on going to college to earn a degree in Computer Science and just enjoy college and play football.
